Beloved reggae icon Peter Hunnigale and renowned promoter Orlando Gittens are joining forces to present the Giants of Lovers Rock JA Fundraiser, a powerful night of music and unity in support of Jamaica’s recovery after the devastation of Hurricane Melissa.
Taking place on 18th December 2025 at the O2 Indigo Arena in Greenwich, this special event brings together some of the finest voices in Lovers Rock to raise urgent funds for families across Jamaica who have been displaced, are facing food insecurity, and are struggling as communities work to rebuild essential infrastructure.
Every penny donated goes directly to Food For The Poor, ensuring that vital aid reaches those most affected — providing shelter, food, and hope at a time when it is needed most.
Join us for an unforgettable evening celebrating the spirit of Lovers Rock while standing in solidarity with the people of Jamaica. Together, we can help rebuild lives and restore communities.

Hurricane Melissa brought unprecedented devastation to Jamaica, striking the island as a powerful Category 5 storm and leaving widespread destruction in its wake. Communities across the south and southwest were hit hardest, with entire neighborhoods flooded, homes destroyed, and critical infrastructure severely damaged. Massive power outages affected most of the island, roads were blocked by landslides and debris, and thousands of families were displaced from their homes. Agriculture, healthcare facilities, and essential services suffered enormous losses, deepening the humanitarian need. As Jamaica begins the long process of rebuilding, support is urgently needed to restore homes, reconnect communities, and help families recover from one of the most severe storms in the nation’s history.

Food For The Poor Jamaica is the nation’s largest charitable organisation and serves as the local arm of the U.S.-based interdenominational Christian ministry. Since its founding in 1982 and local incorporation in 1983, the charity has grown from its early days of distributing rice from a small Kingston warehouse into an expansive, islandwide network of community partners. Over the years, FFP has forged strong partnerships with more than 1,300 churches and charitable groups, enabling the organisation to deliver vital assistance — including food, medical supplies, educational resources, building materials, and hygiene essentials — to Jamaica’s most vulnerable communities.

Food for the Poor (FFP) has a long-standing presence in Jamaica, implementing a range of development and relief programs. Their work encompasses emergency aid, nutrition support, clean water and sanitation, housing, healthcare, education, and micro-enterprise development. Notably, FFP is now launching its first Sustainable Community Development (SCD) initiative in Jamaica: the Zion Entrepreneurial Community, in collaboration with both local and international partners. This project is designed to foster a self-sufficient community by providing families with the resources and opportunities needed for economic advancement, access to healthcare, secure housing, and local enterprise development — moving beyond short-term relief to support lasting resilience.

During emergencies, Food For The Poor plays a vital role in providing disaster relief. After Hurricane Melissa struck in 2025, the organisation strengthened its response capabilities by establishing regional hubs in Montego Bay and Spanish Town, allowing for quicker and more coordinated delivery of food, water, hygiene supplies, and shelter materials. Recognising its logistical expertise and robust infrastructure, the Jamaican Government, in partnership with the Defence Force, appointed FFP as the lead logistics partner for humanitarian operations on the island. This strategic position ensures that aid reaches the communities most affected and often hardest to access.
